Re: (TFT) Quiet

From: Michael Taylor <MichaelTaylor1@compuserve.com>

I'm currently working on a simplified version of Car Wars for TFT
that uses hexes and converting Last Unicorn's Star Trek games to TFT.

I am working on a set of Cleric rules for TFT that would better be described as science fiction, or high Tech. Preliminary tests have fallen flat, so it is with some tredeptation that I describe it here. I don't think the testers are "seeing" it the way I do yet. Breifly my favorite Stat in Traveler was EDUCATION, but as a GM tool I loved TECH LEVEL. If one looks at the point cost of Tallents as representing tech level all TFT talents fit into traveler. Of course pre-requisites extend this. Fencing would be Tech Level 5 as would Missile weapons. A character can't spend more points on a talent than they have education. Education is a stat of the community the character came from. A 'wild' man couldn't learn any talents over 1 point. Mideval education can be improved by a tutor. The real job of a preist is to teach the comunity and raise its Tech Level. A theologeon could raise the Tech Level to 5. Like I said, the play testers aren't 'diggin' this yet. As I test more specific examples with them, I will find the one that 'rings true'. In the mean time I just wanted to share this angle with you In light of your Star Treck to TFT work.
