I don't have a source handy, but I do know that Kevlar as a material
will not stop knives, ice picks, chain saws, or other non-bullet attacks.

However, many of the better body armor vests are now layered - they have
Kevlar for protection from bullets, and other layers for protection from
slashing and stabbing weapons.  They are still called "Kevlar" vests, just
like all facial tissues are called "Kleenex".

So, all your sources are actually right, depending on their definition of
"Kevlar".

I agree with you here.  Dou you have a copy of Traveller TNE's
"Fire, Fusion & Steel" sourcebook for designing stuff for that game?

Pretty much, any HE or HEAP round designed by FF&S smaller than 2.5cm is
less effective (by far) than a solid slug.

It's a good (but out of print) resource for all sorts of "realistic"
weapon and vehicle design.
