Yeah, I think it works really well. The only thing is that  R1/2 and 1/4
can and R1/12 can get a little confusing but these tend to be lo-tech
weapons and fairly easy to figure out. 

The Twilight: 2000 games (Cadallacs & Dinosaurs and Traveller: The New Era)
do a pretty good job of reducing all that complexity in weapons without
going overboard. also.
