(TFT) My Favorite Die

Not that this is relevant, but my favorite die is still the miscast d10 I found at a Polycon in the early 80's. It is always cocked! Great fun to whip out during a late-nite game, or when gaming with total strangers.

I almost got to squeeze it into a game at a local con (DieCon) yesterday (Bugs vs. Romans using TSRs Battlesystem). Unfortunately, we were out of time, and the last 'turn' was spent discussing the potential outcome rather than rolling dice. A shame, since all hits were assigned after the defender rolled armor saves using D10s and those crunchy romans were about to get hit with our big stuff.

Speaking of which, BattleSystem seemed like a good set of rules. It suffers from the 'too many dice for Martin' syndrome (24 was the highest number thrown that I recall - I rolled 15 a few times). It does manage to squeeze different dice types in depending on the strength of the unit type (I liked that feature a lot) and differentiated quite well between unit types. The only slightly incomplete cheat sheet was one page long, easily corrected when I redo it into a more useful 2-sider.

The GM had created custom unit types based on the fantasy material in the book. He had even had some custom miniatures made (some of the bugs). Really cool!

 > (Asking this of the TFT list is likely
not the place to get the big "LOTS OF DICE!"
 response...)

I loved them all, I collected lots of different ones over the years, ones
with pips on them not numerals etc. (can't remeber where they came from). I
would get them while I was backpacking round the world (eg: Divisadero St SF
had a great gaming store, Leeds, Utrecht, Perth Western Australia - all
these places had great stores with 2nd hand stuff. overinclusive stores
rather than 'slimmed down'.
Unusual dice were easy to lug around the world till I got back to Sydney
(and better than a t-shirt, mug or whatever as a souvenir)

A friend had a d7 which I was never able to find...............
