If you want a flatter curve, with no 'peak', but not one that's completely
flat, there's an easy way to do it.  It sounds strange, but only because we
aren't used to it: use two different type of dice. d12+d8 gives a 2-20
result,
but here's its curve (given as Result: Number of die-roll combinations that
give you this result.)

2: 1
3: 2
4: 3
5: 4
6: 5
7: 6
8: 7
9: 8
10: 8
11: 8
12: 8
13: 8
14: 7
15: 6
16: 5
17: 4
18: 3
19: 2
20: 1
