RE: (TFT) Protoceratops and the Legend of the Griffin?

	My friend Steve (who is off this list again) 
added to this thread.

	In the Albert Badlands, natives called the
area the land of the father of the buffalos.  This
was considered savage ignorance by white settlers.
However a surveyor found a dinosaur skeleton 
about 1.8 times the size of a bison in the area 
and now people believe that the Indians were referring
to the dinosaur bones that are common in the area.
(Steve does not remember the name of the dinosaur
species this guy found but it is the Drumhellor
Museum if you are interested.)


	This is the only documented case of fossils
entering folklore that I know of, but doubtless
there are many more.
