i honestly dont think so, this one is more based in mythos... there wasnt even
a hobbit in the original.. it was essentially a very fast, very easy game for
stand alone combat.  only much later when Melee caught on, and others were
using it for the "combat" portion of their D&D games(like i was) did the whole
RPG thing happen.

then they made wizard.

kinda like Ogre... another Microgame.  then it becasme GEV. then multiple
extra editions, scenarios, etc... becasue ist was a simple FAST and easy to
use combat systme.  it was mdified many times.  i used it modified for modern
minature combat, just weighting the vehicles and wepons to a M-60 MBT,
everything else was either better or weaker....

thats what is so kewl about these microgames.  from their inception they were
small light games, which then became the combat, majik, etc parts of the
larger more involved TFT
