(TFT) Shield rush in Melee

Hi there,

I'm new to the list but not to the game. I have a
couple of versions of the Metagaming classing Melee.
One of the versions (with a color cover, gargoyle
attacking) talks about "shield rush" attacks, whereas
another makes no mention of it. Strangely, the latter
is a more recent (fifth) edition, circa 1981. 

Does anyone know why it was removed? Was it to
conserve space, or because of playability, or because
it was just overlooked? I don't have copies anymore of
the Advanced Melee to see what became of shield
rushing.

Just a trivia question...
