Don't get me wrong, I have no idea what a realistic break frequency is, 1 in 216 seems kinda high, one in a million kinda low, I'll assume the real number is somewhere in between.  But for gaming purposes, we enjoy the occasional 1/216 fumble, a one/a million fumble rate rounds to zero, so should simply be ignored (your suggestion IIRC), you apparently enjoy that convention.  Like you said, milage may vary.

Of course, now I want to get a bunch of swords, swing them at a chainmail wearing tree, and see how long they last, 216 swings, or a million.  Until then we'll just have to live with not knowing.
