It's only spoken of as having the wizard's IQ for disbelieving Illusions.

Which suggests a zombie might scout.

Which begs the question of animal or avian 'zombies'.

I'd rule that, after the Shapeshift wears off, you have a zombie cow.
Even if you allowed the transformation, the IQ of the zombie is too
low to have learned two-handed sword (and since the cow did not
know how to do that beforehand ...)
