And this brings me to why I wrote all of this to begin with.  I think that how far you can hike should be a factor of strength and MA.  I don't know Grouchy from Job, but if he can hike 25 miles in a day with a 60 pound pack, then we just need to know how strong he is, and what race he is.  If he's a dwarf with 9 strength, then we're getting somewhere!

   I'm an currently a Hobbit with ST 6.  Back when I was 17 I was a human with ST 11.  Here is a link to the Real World ST table that I use.

   Personally I think that table is biased for several reasons.  Using a post industrial population to determine average strength is a huge mistake I feel.  Everyone of the modern world should be -2 ST due to the carriage ride life style.

   That means If I gave up my car in about 2 years I would be a ST 8 hobbit.
