Re: (TFT) (SFB) (GURPS)

Nahh! If I'z gonna start from scratch I'd call the thing G.R.I.P.E.S. which is Generic Role-playing Independent Player Enviroments System. The idea being I get SICK of being the GM.

>From the point of Game Theory you've put your finger on something here though about the tinkering. The "richest" game has the least number of rules leading to the largest number of outcomes. Tic Tac Toe fails here but actual warfare, looked at as a game, just about takes the cake. Ergo we spend ALOT of time killing things virtually (pen & paper included). Ranking right up there in "richness" however are things like business, politics and law. These have been almost overlooked as game dynamics, partly because they play out on much slower timescales. The overall effect of history on warfare, economics, law and the like appears to me to be a constant tinkering or striveing to make this or that a bit more effective, or a bit better. A well done RPG is actually a meta-game IMHO that encompasses several smaller games. TFT AW isn't needed if there's no magic in your world. It's a game within TFT. Also a well done RPG will take into acount the players 'tinker factor', i.e. subgames should evolve over time within the RPG. This isn't hard to pull off but thats the TIMELINE post.

just a thought
