Molotail rules are not trivial in Advanced Melee. But getting to your
question, the section on Armor on p. 11 says:

"ARMOR (either man-made or natural fur/scales) protects against most things,
including fire, sword cuts, blows, missile spells, bites, and falls.
However, it only protects against slime or similar attacks for one turn."

on p. 24, in the context of a figure in molotail-exploded hex that fails the
saving throw and is now "on fire", it says:

"Armor DOES protect against other hits from fire (i.e., walking through
flame). It does NOT protect you when you are actually soaked with the
flaming oil."
