RE: (TFT) Pace of pbem combats.

Ray,
I would usually post a tactical hexmap to the group showing the relative positions of all protagonists, obstacles and innocent bystanders at the start of each turn.
Players would e-mail their characters intended actions and target for that turn. If you get most of your players actions in, then each turn can be resolved fairly quickly. It slows down if you are waiting for a response from one or more players.
I would then interpret their actions, work through the combat then post the results, much as you have done.
There are examples of the tactical maps on the LoranRPG Y! group files area if you need more info...
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/LoranRPG/files/Tactical/

Generally that's how it works on the other PBEM groups too.
In the Labyrinth Y! group has just fought out a skirmish with around a dozen protagonists. That seems to have been resolved fairly quickly.

If any one is interested in giving it a try, the Loran RPG group could do with a few more players and now's a good time to jump aboard...
:o)

Regards,

Chris
