I agree.  If you take such a huge blow that you're knocked down, you should be down until next turn.  I'm just reporting how we've played it, and I agree that it's not how the book states it should be played.  And, I think that, having played it both ways, it makes battles more challenging for the higher level characters when the opponents can get back up on their action.  Although, I'm definately considering making it a 3d Roll vs adj ST to do so, making it harder and harder to acoomplish.

Is it???  I think that if you have taken such a 
massive blow as to cause you to collapse, then you 
SHOULD be on the ground for a while.

I'm not arguing that you should not do it as you
like, I'm just saying that it is not self evident
as you assert.
