But seriously (how can such a discussion actually BE serious), the dimensional shifting takes more work/power the further apart the dimensions are in terms of content, hence the varying point costs.

I think when developing magic for game systems, there is often an underlying mechanism in the mind of the developer, even if it is unspoken, occasionally broken or even unrecognized, as to how magic works. This might come up more often in TFT as there is no religion-based, divinely-granted parallel (i.e. clerics) to fall back upon.
