I rather liked that particular rule - it seemed more "real" to me.

Another rule that went through several iterations is the one regarding
dodging and defending.  I forget which did what, but IIRC, some editions
gave a DX bonus while others had you roll extra dice.  I believe SJ came
down on the side of extra dice since that is the mechanic he used in 
TFT:ITL.  Ever try to hit a figure with UC V who is defending?  Well nigh
impossible.

But TFT is small enough to be tinkerable and I doubt you can find anyone
on this list who plays strictly according to canon.  It's what makes TFT 
such a fun system.
