Re: Change (was: (TFT) Jobs table: ...)

perhaps a good simile is that magic is a craft, not a science. Since science works "universally" within the norm, a "scientist" can make something that works for everybody, and it can be copied. Magic is more like painting fine art, writing a story or sculpting. They can tell you how they do it, you can watch or use books to understand it, but you still won't be able to do it b/c the key of the process is the mind/hands making it.

It's purely up to the GM to decide how common the craft is. And let's remember that for every member of the guild who is an accomplished Wizard, there are probably ten who are "officially" wizards but are really not much use on their own. Sort of like a master draughtsman and someone who can write and draw a straight line.

Not even, its more like its just a problem with viewing TFT magic as
just being a sorta alchemist like job... its not that you mix the
right ingredients together and something happens, and its not that
saying the right word just has power.... theres more to it. Its
actually a good thing, not a problem. Poor choice of words.

Why is that a problem with TFT (magic)?
Did you mean "rationalizing how TFT magic works involves..."?

So the problem with TFT, and I think I mentioned this somewhere, is
that magic on one hand is treated more like an understandable thing,
more or less a science, like with books.

But in other places...
