In one of the Interplay magazines, there is an article suggesting alternate rules for a third class of religious spellcasters akin to D&D Clerics. No one I knew liked the suggestion much, but it did (unless I mis-remember) show an example of defining another class, though I think it was mainly sort of an alternative flavor of Wizard.
