(TFT) Doing the Micro bit again...

Greg Poehlein, Gary Williams and I have continued to work with the idea
of a supertactical man to man combat boardgame, and we have decided to
take the plunge. You'll be officially hearing about our efforts shortly
(and in fact I will probably ask some of the listmembers to blindtest for
us, if they are so inclined).

It wasn't possible to implement all your suggestions. (Especially since a
lot of them were directly opposing each other...) But your input in this
list earlier and by email has helped us to focus the vision and choose
things that we think come together to produce the kind of game the
majority of you will like, while providing a place for new gamers (not
introduced to supertactical man-to-man games before) to start playing.

Currently, it looks like we will be offering a pair of micro-format (4X7)
games with 24 to 36-page rule booklets, 11 X 17 mapboards (square grid,
not hex), flat counters, and weapon cards that are 100 percent compatible
with the existing Pocket Fantasy rules. (In fact, this makes a great
supertactical combat module for Pocket Fantasy, though it is designed to
stand alone.) Plans are in the works for programmed adventures in this
format as well. The first releases will have a medieval/fantasy theme,
but we do plan several compatible games in other genres besides fantasy.
(Your suggestions for topics are solicited. Superheroes, old west, and
modern urban settings seem like naturals, but you tell us what you would
enjoy.)

I'd like to thank the members of this list for their suggestions,
encouragement, and assistance in pushing us off the dime on this. (I may
not thank you so profusely LATER when I'm up to my armpits in alligators,
so I wanted to do it now...) :)
