3D Dungeon Accessories (was Re: (TFT) Dwarvenforge)
I have two Dungeonworks sets - I just find them too difficult to use while
playing, and they're not really that visually appealing when left plain
black. For those who don't know, the Dungeonworks sets consist of a metal
base with a painted dungeon floor-like square grid, and a number of plastic
walls and doorways with magnetic bases. You can assemble a great variety of
room configurations, and the walls stay in place. Very nifty!
As even cheaper alternatives, I saw somewhere that Microtactix
(www.microtactix.com) is going to be selling .pdf files with 3D dungeon
components, and S. John Ross is releasing a Dungeon Interiors set of the
Sparks 3D Mini font sets http://www.cumberlandgames.com/. As I don't have
either of these (yet), I can't say whether they're any good, but both
Microtactix and S. John Ross have a history of making great products.
As for the Dwarven Forge products, remember that they're good quality resin,
and hand-painted - two things that really crank up the price. Still, I'd
rather use either the DungeonWorks set or a paper alternative, as those are
easier to use with a megahex grid (although, my group is now begging to play
3rd edition D&D rather than TFT - those b*stards!).
