   I heard the U.S. Navy has an alloy called HY120 (formerly HY100) which is
used in submarine hulls; possibly a steel-titanium alloy.  It might make a
good modern sword, depending on how brittle it is.
   One of the GURPS books (probably /Basic Set/) has rules for creating
weapons with modern metals.  /GURPS Time Travel/ might have something as
well.
   The only reference I've seen in fiction is one of the /Berserker Saga/
books by Fred Saberhagen -- "Brother Assassin" I think was the title.  A
stone-age hero is armed with a monomolecular-bladed sword to defend against
Berserker agents from the future.  The Berserkers whip up a metal /dragon/
to try and defeat him.
