(TFT) Castles again
Next question is then,
what things in Cidri make castles less useful?
(1) gunpowder, but nullified thanks to sulfur metabolizing microorganism
critter
(2) flying steeds, though each has problems: Dragons may very well set up
camp and take the castle for themselves; their greed making them unreliable
as allies. Most casstles would be in civilized areas, good for food but bad
in attractnig every Tom, Dick & Galahad as a would-be dragonslayer. Griffins
too, are expensive and somewhat unreliable and darned hard to feed at times.
Gargoyles are pretty dumb and get singled out in civilized areas anyway for
their gallbladders.
As far as demons, anyone powerful enought to summon a demon would be the one
in the castle anyway.............
(3) magic........................summoning earth elementals being the main
one I guess. How much would a deep, deep moat delay an elemental set on
undermining a wall? More than 12 turns maybe? Maybe it is very salt
water......
defenses
air elementals to attack flyers, lotsa hobbit archers or slingers or bola
dudes, flat roofs (i.e. obvious landing places) with lots of hidden traps.
Hefty bribes for young dragons crossing the walls to swap sides..........
