(TFT) House Rules: Staves?
"If anyone touches it against his will, it explodes..."
Sigh.
Does this mean if the mage is holding it, and touches _you_ with it?
No.
If he's holding it, and you grab it? No, because it would hurt the
mage, too. Is it then a choice the mage player can make? No.
If he's holding it, and you grab it and pull it away from him? Yes.
Does it hurt the mage, since he's so close? Not unless he's allergic to
atomized fingerbones. What if it is pulled away by a lariat or whip?
No.
If he's not holding it, but sitting watching, and asks me to pass it to
him? (the 'against his will' gambit) Not against his will, doesn't
explode. Can he order it to explode after I've picked it up? No. So
long as you don't put it down, you can hold it forever.
If the mage rolls an unconscious guy over on top of his staff, and
leaves the scene, what happens? The unconscious guy wakes up, and
nothing happens. The guy notices the staff, and pulls it from under
himself, and nothing happens. The guy puts it down, then picks it up,
and it explodes.
If the mage has left his staff behind, and someone touches it, does it
explode? Yes.
If it's slung on his back, not touching his skin, and someone touches
it? No.
Can a mage have more than one staff? No.
Then is he aware of the destruction of an existing staff? If he asks,
or is declared as trying to remain aware(no ST recovery during this
awareness).
Is an animal 'anyone'? Not for this spell.
A golem? A zombie? A wight? A vampire? No, No, Yes, and Yes.
Data, the android from TNG? No.
Lore, then? Shut up.
Can it be picked up with tongs? Yes.
Can it be wrapped in leather, and handled safely? Yes.
