Although I hate Robert Jordan I've liked aspects of them and agree that Rand
Al'thor is well developed. Add Jaime Lannister from the George RR Martin
books, Korath Mindsthrall from the latest necroscope book (actually a great
many of the vampires in this series were pretty dastardly), Hagrid from
Harry Potter, Linden Avery, Mhoram and Saltheart Foamfollower (better than
the poxy Ogiers from RJ) from Thomas Covenant, and Aiken Drum from the
Julian May books to name a few
