After Man: A Zoology of the Future

Dixon, Douglas
Animal Life and Zoology | Biology | Evolution and Paleontology | Natural
History
A fascinating zoology of the future - a descrption in words and
illustrations of the animals who might inhabit the earth "after man".
This book explains evolution in a
simple format and besides being educational it is full of beautiful
illustrations. It is well written, imaginative and informative - a
welcome addition to any library of
natural science books.

The New Dinosaurs

Dixon, Dougal
Animal Life and Zoology | Biology | Evolution and Paleontology | Natural
History
Imagine that the dinosaur-killing meteorite missed! There was no great
impact 65 million years ago resulting in the irreversibly changed in
climate. In short, the
dinosaurs and other great reptiles of the Mesozoic era did not disappear
from the Earth. Dougal Dixon takes us on this fantastic voyage of
evolutionary discovery,
encompassing both geology and palaeontology. Enhanced by superbly
detailed color illustrations, he has produced a convincing alternate
zoology of the new
dinosaurs that have evolved to populate this world. Book is both
entertaining and educational, covering what is a dinosaur to theories
concerning the great extinction.
Highly recommended if you can find it.

These two books are excellent grist for your monster mill. Highly
personally recommened by myself, with this guarantee: If you don't love
them, I'll buy them. (lost my copies in the great roommate debacle...)
:)

Locally, we're particularly fond of the 'Rapine' from After Man...
