Um, I think you conveniently overlooked 
actually reading the Trance spell.  

Hint: it's not the Telepathy spell.  The
caster just suddenly KNOWS the answer to a 
yes or no question.  No prisoner required.
No chance of error.  So lie to your friends 
all you like, the Trance spell will still 
find you.
