Re: (TFT) d20 TFT
Ty,
Below is my super-sumerized version of your new campaign rules. My
comments come at the end. Right off though, I say that any GM who presents
their players with a list of rules changes before the game starts is doing
fine. Just fine.
SOLUTIONS:
Change all atribute rolls to 1d20.
Unconsciousness is at 0 to -5 ST. If wounded to -6 or less,
the character is badly wounded and will lose 1 ST per turn
until dead (death is at -ST).
New spells, Healing, Combat Healing, Greater Combat Healing
Characters start with 4 extra talent points. They can buy 2
talent points for the cost of one attribute point.
Comments?
My first reaction is that some of these rules read like pure game
theory. Not a bad thing. But in the vein I ask what happens to a character
that has DX 21. Do they critically hit on a 1 or a 2. And a DX 22 on a
1-3?
There is a long tradition for death at -ST. I think this is just fine.
My only comment is that from the research I have done it apparently takes
much longer than 30 seconds to bleed to death. Arterial bleeding takes
about 5 minutes. I would suggest that characters wounded worse than -6 lose
1 point of ST per 2 minutes or 24 turns.
The healing spells will be a must with any team of adventurers. From
experience with my players I know they will immediately try to marry the
healing spells to a magic item with a ST battery so they can be
automatically healed while fighting. Is this possible?
Two comments about the extra talent points. All of the monsters get
this too, right? And the notation on the character sheet. I have my
players record their talents as 'name'('cost'). Like this.
Sword(2), Sheild(1), Blur(3), Running(2)
From that notation I can tell the character is a warrior and has the
knife talent. Using the method of 4 extra talent points, and buying 2
instead of 1 attribute I would have them record it like this.
Sword(2), Sheild(1), Blur(3), Running(2), Fencing(187), Literacy(62)
Two reasons for this. So I can add up the tallents to make sure they
haven't got more than their IQ while at the same time I can figure out how
many talent points come from experience spent directly on the tallent and
not the IQ attribute.
The second reason is to handle 'Forgetting' of talents. If they
'forget' running(2) they just free up two points of IQ for another talent.
If they forget Fencing(187) they could, concievably get back the 187 points
of EP it cost to learning it when they were just a 32 point character. It
will make encounters with Dragons much more interesting.
