(TFT) Parrying

This has probably been suggested by someone else, but I just thought of a
way to make TFT more "scalable" without using my advanced weapon talents.
Here's how it works:

1. A defending figure does not lose its attack. Instead, it defines a DX
adjustment that will apply to its to hit roll.
2. Its opponents will suffer the same adjustments in the same turn.
3. The adjustment is defined when the figure would move.

Advantages:
1. Makes combat more scalable. Now a fight between two DX 20 figures can
last more than one or two rounds.
2. Allows the really good warriors to cut down rabble.

Disadvantages:

1. It could be virtually impossible to kill a figure ("I take -10 from my DX
of 10 for the next 20 turns"). Possible solutions
    a. Make the opponent's adjustment some fraction of the defender's
adjustment -- say 1/2.
    b. Limit the maximum defensive adjustment.
    c. Or, provide that the to hit roll cannot be reduced below (say) 25%
(TFT DX of 8, d20 TFT DX of 5).

2. Keeping track of defense will complicate the game. Solution -- allow it
only for PCs and exceptional monsters.

3. Makes DX more valuable -- I'd rigidly enforce armor DX adjustments.

Thoughts?
