No, the thing *wants* you to leave it alone. If you don't, it will run away,
but keep you from following by swinging its tail. It isn't likely to see a
group of adventurers as a threat (considering it outweighs them by several
tons) until it gets poked, and then it is likely to either run them over or
run away.

I think it needs a trample attack. Think of spooking a cow (not a bull) and
I think you'll have the behavior of these things down just about right.
