Re: (TFT) Armies and special gear

Castles are practially useless as defensive postions
in a world of teleport, gate, and telepathy.
...
My solution
is a very minor extension of an existing spell.
The pentagram.
...
The house rule I use, is that no matter what size the
pentagram is, it still protects the whole mega hex.
From: Mark Tapley <mtapley@swri.edu>
So you basically divided the cost of permanent pentagrams by 7,
on a cost/floor-space basis, if they are intended for protection
only? Makes me a bit nervous.
Mark,
The spell cost is not divided. The wizard still casts, and gets, a full
pentigram spell. They just don't have to advertise the fact if they only
want to use it to protect a location. They can make it very small if they
wish. Say a bit of detail carved into a door cil, or stuck into the anchor
loops of a big chain draw bridge, or even on the face of each tower and wall
mega hex. But still at full cost to cast.
From: Mark Tapley <mtapley@swri.edu>
I argued that a keep with pentagrams in the walls,
floor, and ceiling would be invulnerable - in that the
contents, though not on the inside of a pentagram, *would*
be encased in a solid layer of pentagrams and that no magic
could cross the pentagram barrier - but there are dissenting
opinions to that.
That's it exactly. A magic controled room. There can be spells inside
the room. There can be spells outside. But none could go into, out of, or
cross the room. Though cost of permenant pentigrams and weeks required
would make it wise to protect the door first, then 'harden' the walls as
resources permit.

IQ 17 Substantial Walk(T):
From: Mark Tapley <mtapley@swri.edu>
Oooh, another neat idea! Can the Wizard pick up more ST
batteries, or receive Aid spells, while he's taking his
constitutional?
Absolutely. With the right support comunity of aprentices and potions,
the wizard could live forever as one of the great Lichs of old with his army
of undead that he personally controls.
IQ 17 Flaming Armor(C): ...
... This spell cost
5 points of fatigue per day it is to last.
Can the Armor be taken off, or does the subject need fireproof
bedding that night? How does he/she pee?
lol. Umm, the casting wizard can discontiue the spell at any time they
wish. The lower legs are not actually flaming so the character can walk
around without burning the floor.
If you take any peice of the armor off it stops flamming. But you can
lift a chainmail skirt and pee from underneath it. Without any risk of
raising steam.
