Thanks.  Just for the record, the actual spell is
"Elemental Swarm", at IQ 17, and still in the
archives. 

'Windwaif' is just a treatment.  Lipstick on a pig.

I agree that it's tempting to describe spells in such
a way, and I find that only the wargamers hate it too
much.  Character players seem to like finding spells
in such a format, though they will eventually get
around to asking, "What are the stats on that
spell/item/critter?"  :)
