"If it works for you."

It directly contradicts the justification given for
the Wizard/Hero split, that of mindset and focused
studies. This might be justifiable based on faith,
but:

I would first insist on building all religions myself,
or carefully auditing each. ("The priests of
Pamelalee are sneaky... and good with bows... and they
have lots of sex!")

I would then limit such 'empowered priests' to only
those Spells and Talents that were on the 'approved'
list for the religion.

I would further rule that either divine wroth or
priest self-doubt cause loss or diminishment of
spell-like powers in priests who stray from their
faith. (This serves to instantly balance the points
if I as GM become disillusioned with this experiment.)
I might consider a -1 DX for casting per point of
imbalance, rather than just removing spells until the
points balance.

I would also rule that such priests are in _no_ way
Wizards, and do not recieve the wizardly perks of
reading scrolls, using certain items, etc. They also
would have no problem with iron, but perhaps would
with materials deemed unclean or unholy by their
faith.

I think that's about all. :)

Locally, we've had 'priests' who had to surf the line
between Wizard and Hero. That is, they had to have
Spell and Talent lists that balanced pointwise
regardless of whether they were costed out for a
Wizard (doubled Talent cost for most Talents) or for a
Hero (Triple Spell cost). But that's entirely too
crunchy for my tastes today.

I also once ran a Druid that bought his spells at 2
slots per, so long as they were 'Druidy'. I remember
an epic debate over the Druidyness of Fire. :)
