Ed,
   I seem to remember something along the following was suggested during the
original thread.

Fill tower with created hexes.
Seal tower.
Drop created hexes.

   I think it was a flyig wizard with create 7-hex wall, that was settled on.
Once vacuum was acheived inside the tower, it was further developed into both
a potential warp drive that could move the planet from it's place in orbit,
and a terrible weapon.
