Re: (TFT) TFT Healing

"I like active defenses too, and think one of the greatest shortcomings of TFT is that there are very few defensive effects besides armor. It's one of the biggest reasons I prefer GURPS combat to TFT - characters that parry, block and dodge to stay alive, instead of relying on armor, magic, or incapacitating the enemy first."
Actually, I did have a character once with all of the unarmed combat skills, literacy and hammertouch. He also had a major artifact that allowed him to fly. The end result of this was that a group of other players pooled their money to hire about 30 assassins to kill my character.
Imagine it. Zephyr, the character's name, could fly into a front hex of someone setting on him and they would get the plus 2 dex bonus, but they would be rolling four dice to hit against an adjusted dex for hitting a creature in flight. If Zephyr defended or dodged, you were rolling 5 Dice to hit him. And, if they missed, he would fire off a hammertouch for 10+ dice damage that would last for three rounds. He was an experience sponge. But, once his strength was fatigued, he was practically useless. And, this was what made everyone hate him.
In the end, Zephyr almost survived the 30 assassin simultaneous town ambush. If they had not hired a wizard who hit him with lightning because he could not dodge and defend at once, he would have flown away.
Good Fortune,
Rick
