(TFT) Axe vs. Mace/shortsword damage

True, as a mace/shortsword will do no damage 1/12 of the time in such a case.
At 3 pts armor, they're exactly the same (1/6 chance of no damage) and then at 4 or greater the mace is better (1/3 for the ax, 5/12 for the mace/shortsword).
I forget (as I play way too many systems), does TFT have a bypassing armor mechanism?

That 12 hits is a bit of a straw man, though, since you only have a 1 in 4.7x10^18 chance of being that unlucky.
On the other hand, you have a 42% chance of killing that no armor guy with an axe in two rounds, while you have a 56% chance of doing so with a mace/shortsword.
