Re: (TFT) what can a flanked opponent do?

Nope. the Wolf can't do that as a "shift" in movement.

Shift lets you move one but does not let you disengage, and (if I recall correctly) requires you to stay adjacent to all the figures you are adjacent to.

Depending on which hexes Wolf is flanked from, he may be able to shift so one of them is in one of his fron hexes and the other is in a side hex, or if the hexes fall jut right, maybe even get both in front hexes (though this is pretty unlikely, and wont work if they are really in a straight line).

Wolf could always use his action to disengage, though he can only move one hex, and may suffer their attacks if he does so (though if he is fater, andhis action come forst it may be the right move).

Finally, the wolf could spring on one of the fighters and attempt to engage in HTH, which is the wolf's natural element, and would likely disadvantage the fighter.

Wolf got initiative.
Wolf opted for 2 fighters to move.
2 fighters where flanking a wolf.

the wolf wanted to rotate/shift around from between one of the fighters by
one hex so he was no longer flanked.

after

Does the wolf need to disengage from one of the fighters?

Is the wolf allowed to do that? What else could the wolf have done?

in a later fight 3 fighters where in spots 1, 3, 5 around a wolf. Can the
wolf move between 2 of them so that he avoids one of their attacks?
