We did a lot of fencing in high school and when we were unsupervised we would
pull out stage sword (real weight but duller than dull) and do pirate fights.
I was stupid enough to fight a buddy in high school with real (really sharp
blades) swords I was good enough to turn the blade flat when I hit, him not so
much.  We went for about a half an hour of me hitting him before he landed
once good thing I got a partial parry on it otherwise I would be a lefty now.

       Most of the longsword, etc., I've done with Bob Charron, who's local.
He
         specializes in Fiore. But like all martial artists, I do pick up
things in
         various places. There was a German grad student doing Talhoffer for
a
         while, but he himself admitted that he wasn't all that experienced.
