Re: (TFT) a survey of Melee and Wizard editions

VERY impressive work.  Thanks very much for sharing. I'd thought my ow
n cognitive dissonance resulting from picking up a copy of fourth edition M
elee after having been using 2nd and then 3rd edition for a couple of years
was merely me misremembering, but once I saw your comparison, the light bu
lb came back on -- "Oh yeah!  That's what the problems were!"  It
was, sadly, when I first began realizing that maybe Howard wasn't the geni
us we all thought he was down in Texas...
Since none of us had a copy of 1st edition to compare 4th edition too, we n
ever quite understood where the strange stuff was coming from.  Eventu
ally we just decided to be, more or less, "Steve Jackson purists" since HT
was starting to make a hash of things.
Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane, AND for all the good info I n
ever knew before about the evolution of the games.
Now, if we can just tie you to your computer so you can do the same thing f
or all the Microquests...  ;-)

I finally(!) finished my survey of *Melee* and *Wizard* editions. You can
find it here:

Questions, comments, and corrections welcome!

Cheers,
