D&D classic Psionics in TFT

After some play testing I am confident anyone can use these rules in their own TFT campaigns with little to no modification.

D&D classic Psionics in TFT

(the hidden attribute)

Most players spend their experience points as soon as they can.  In those rare cases where a player does not cash in their EXP for new attribute points, it is conceivable that they can accumulate enough unspent EXP that their characters' unspent EXP becomes an attribute unto itself.

These are called Psionic points, or Psionic strength, and follow the rules listed in AD&D first edition governing the same.  These rules may also work For Traveller first edition Psionics, though I have not tested them.

An example:

Say A 45 point character requires 1,000 exp to gain a new attribute point and has accumulated 10,000 unspent experience points.  This characters' Psionic Strength is 10.

(note: experience tables may vary from campaign to campaign, and rules edition i.e.. Melee exp vs ITL vs revised ITL)

Another example:

Say a 50 point character requires 3,000 exp to gain a new attribute point and has accumulated 30,000 unspent experience points.  This character's Psionic strength is 10.

Psionic

Strength

1-10: psionic potential (requires training/testing)

11+ : a psionic character (albeit a very weak one)

200: similar psionic strength to Demogorgon

Purchasing minor and major disciplines

A purchase may not bring a psionic characters psionic strength below 11.

Once a character has 16 or more psionic strength they may purchase a minor Psionic discipline for 5 points.

A Major Psionic discipline costs 10 points.

These costs are subtracted from the characters unspent experience points.  In the case of a 45 point character a minor discipline would result in -5,000 exp, in the case of a 50 point character -15,000.

The Psionic attribute should not be listed on the character sheet.  Its only evidence should be an excessive amount of unspent character points, and possibly a few disciplines listed among talents and/or spells.

Thank you for taking a moment to read.
