There is a famous story, possibly apocryphal, of a group of American
country folk deep in the sticks who went boar hunting when a wealthy
European's plan for a hunting reservation fell through -- but after he'd
already imported the European boars to the US and let them run free on
his estate. Details are sketchy but the story ends with the dogs mostly
dead and the hunters sitting in trees...
BTW, everything I've ever heard about boars says that they are
*extremely* smart, I'd play them with IQ in the 6 to 7 range even for
the common ones, since Cidrian warhorses can get that smart.
