Re: (TFT) Calling All TFTers!
Brennan:
Here are two "barbarian-style" characters from a time long before our beloved
middle ages when "barbarian peoples" frequently had military technology
superior to their "civilized" neighbors (that's why Dark Ages occur).
Tostwicg--a young warrior
ST 12
DX 12 (AdjDX 10)
IQ 8
MA 10 (due to Running talent)
Talents: Knife (IQ 7/1), Sword (IQ 7/1), Shield (IQ 7/1), Lasso (IQ 8/2),
Horsemanship (IQ 8/1), Running (IQ 8/2)
Equipment: Broadsword, 3 daggers suitably balanced for throwing, small
spiked shield, lasso, fur-trimmed cured hide the equivalent of leather armor
(-2 hits/-2 DX) and, optionally, a sturdy, hairy pony.
Note: If you don't want to deal with the horse give him Sex Appeal instead.
Ostrik--a Seidhr (spellcaster)
ST 10
DX 10 (AdjDX 10)
IQ 10
MA 10
Talents: Knife (IQ 7/1), Quarterstaff (IQ 8/1), Animal Handler (IQ 9/2)
Spells: Staff (IQ 8/1), Blur (IQ 8/1), Summon Wolf (IQ 9/1), Trip (IQ 10/1),
Dazzle (IQ 10/1), and either Dark Vision (IQ 9/1) or Far Vision (IQ 10/1)
whichever is more appropriate
Equipment: Quarterstaff with staff spell on it, 2 daggers suitably balanced
for throwing, 2 doses of weapon poison (does 3d damage plus normal weapon
damage if weapon breaks the skin, i.e. does at least one point of actual
damage. If weapon hits but does no damage poison is considered worn off) for
the daggers, and a random piece of jewelry set with a 2 ST capacity Power
Crystal (aka ST battery).
Notes: If you let spellcasters use their staves without the Quarterstaff
talent then replace this with Detect Traps talent. The last two items of
equipment listed above assume a magickal background that DOES NOT INVOLVE
spellcasters hurling multi-dice fireballs, lightning bolts and wizard's
wraths around like basketballs and frisbees. In lieu of that sort of thing,
occultists have to use their magic carefully and always carry a couple of
"back-ups". If this all seems just too darned mundane then go ahead and dump
the poison and Power Crystal, dump a talent or spell and replace it with the
trusty Magic Fist (works on clogged toilets too @ IQ 8/1). The daggers
(poisoned or not) are forged of a spellcaster-friendly metal, whatever that
may be on your planet.
Cheers,
Jody
