(TFT) Re: Cliportage Dwarven population
Hi Everyone,
Cas suggested that the dwarven population
would be 40% or so. I feel weird correcting him (I
intended to just get the ball rolling not direct it) but
one of the social problems in the town is the over
crowding on the south cliff. If there were any
significant number of dwarves, they would soon
drive tunnels thru the hard rock and the problem
would be solved.
If we wanted to have a dwarven population,
how about this. A few dwarven famillies stayed on
and became well to do by digging huge airy mansions
for the wealthy on the north face of The Cut.
Contrast the two sides:
North Face:
Gets a reasonable amount of sun, large
rooms with high ceilings and good air circulation.
Rooms for individual purposes (the breakfast nook,
the Tuesday's religious instruction temple with a
much larger and more ornate cathedral for Sundays),
etc. A number of dwarves can be found on the
north side.
South Face:
Always shadowed by the cliff wall. A
number of poles stick out from the cliff with lines
for drying clothes. The tunnels are cut for
dwarves, so while the population has a perverse
pride of place, many tunnels are too low to walk
comfortably in. All of the stables for the Sub-
humans are kept on this side. Conditions are very
crowded with people sleeping in public tunnels
that the players have to move thru. With the high
populaton density come smells, disease and
social friction. Cases of Madness are not unknown.
Dwarves (other than travellers) are unknown.
(Really TRYING to keep my nose out...)
Rick
