I'm all in favor of this!  (er, the name, that is, not death

"Light ray" is also close enough to "laser beam" as to 
bring out the amateur-hour physics crowd, rules lawyering
away like mad about specific heat and optics and mirrors 
and whatnot.  Death Ray doesn't.
