(TFT) easy rolls...another way



Just something to think about: another way to make
2d rolls somewhat less trivial would be to say
that you still roll 3d6, but if you blow the first 
roll you get a second shot at it.  This isn't real
elegant, but how often do you really have to make
a 2d roll anyway?  And of course for a 1d roll you'd
be allowed two-rerolls.  Here's the chance of success
given target numbers from 5 to 15:

    normal   1 reroll   2 rerolls
5-   4.6%       9.1%      13.3%
6    9.3%      17.7%      25.3%
7   16.2%      29.8%      41.2%
8   25.9%      45.1%      59.4%
9   37.5%      60.9%      75.6%
10  50.0%      75.0%      87.5%
11  62.5%      85.9%      94.7%
12  74.1%      93.3%      98.3%
13  83.8%      97.4%      99.6%
14  90.7%      99.1%      99.9%
15+ 95.4%      99.8%      99.9%

This method would have the advantage of keeping 
the chances of critical success/failure roughly 
the same as they are now--if you blow the first
roll it doesn't matter what you rolled, but if 
you roll an 18 on the your last allowed roll, 
things go kablooey.
