although the PK'er has to be 'in town' to do so, meaning someone
down in the dungeon right next to you can't suddenly go hostile
and start whomping you.   This is nice, but it's still leads to

happily killing monsters with two or three other people.  Some
idiot comes in, joins our party (to find out where we are) and
then goes back to town, turns hostile, and comes down to fight.
So now we either have to waste a huge amount of time dealing
with this ass, or leave.  I usually just leave.  It's annoying
to be chased out of your own game by some dolt.

But in any case, I agree that Bliz's compromise solution (of
requiring a hostility declaration) works, although it doesn't
go as far as I like.


I see. Yes this is the way I play old Diablo. I am very fast at hitting <esc> <quit diablo> to preserve my characters life.
