I have mixed feelings about that.
Because TFT is a build point system, it becomes frustrating when a PC dies
and the player builds an 'identical twin' for the next game.
Presumably there is *some* loss because the new PC doesn't have as much
experience points, but this usually comes up with players who are perfectly
willing to do the things likely to kill themselves quickly!
I used to say that any 'next' characters were built on -1 point less than
your last character. So your first character is 33 points, your next
character is 32 points, your next character is31 points...etc. down to 27
points (about where I feel 'joe normal' is), but I'm not sure how I'll
handle that for new games.
More important is the loss of effort the player has put into their new
character.
