Lots of dice.  

Well, really I feel that percentile dice and a d6 can about cover it, but I have no problems with polyhedra dice.  I do feel that SJ's obsession with six-siders has hurt him.  If you want to have a system built around one and only one die, a D10 seems the most useful choice.  

Even when I run TFT I have a pair of percentile dice and a single d4 and d8 handy.
