Funny you should mention Goos as I've been thinking about them a lot
recently. Specifically, in their mode of attack.

Goos are very slow movers, its almost impossible to get trapped by one
in the outdoors and still remarkably difficult in an enclosed setting. So
how would a Goo go about catching its prey? I came up with the
following:

A Goo catches its prey by secreting a substance onto the ground which
it is able to slide over but otherwise acts as a sticky floor (as per the
spell) for any prey that happens to pass by. A Goo can secrete this
substance over a span of hexes equal to 6 times its size in hexes: a 1-hex
Goo can fill a megahex, a 2-hex Goo can fill every hex within a range of
two, etc. These hexes must be connected but it is not necessary that they
spread out radially from the Goo (ie, a 1-hex Goo can lay down a line of
this stuff 6 hexes in length.)

This substance will dry out over the course of a week and must be replaced
by the Goo in order to be active. This substance is not useful to the Goo
as a means of attack, rather is there simply to capture and hold it's prey.
