(TFT) Erol's smoother St damage table
Here is my analysis of Erol's table "Damage as a factor of Strength".
http://members.aol.com/erolb1/etan.html
St: 1-3 4-6 7-12 13-19 20-29 30-59 +30
Damage: 1d-5 1d-4 1d-3 1d-2 1d-1 2d-2 +(1d-1)"
The chart listed in AM is weighted differently.
St: 1-8
9-10
11-12
Damage: 1d-4 13-19
1d-3 15-16
1d-2 17-20
1d-1 21-24
1d 25-30
1d+1 30-40
1d+2 40-50
1d+3 50-60
2d+1
3d+1
4d+1
And here are some sample monsters from ITL.
2-hex dragon: St 12, 1d
7-hex dragon: St 20, 2d
14-hex dragon: St 24, 2d+2
demon: St 100, 4d
lessor demon: St 50, 2d
troll: St 30, 2d
small hydra: St 30, 1d+1
larger hydra: St 60, 1d+3
basilisk: St 10, 1d
elephant: St 50, 2d
buffalo: St 40, 1d+1
roc: St 30, 2d
lion: St 24, 2d
chimpanzee: St 14, 1d+1
giant 4-hex constrictor snake: St 40, 2d
Notice how their ST to damage distribution folows Erol's table closer
than the one listed in AM. For instance, no where does the 4d damage show
up execpt with the demon at St 100. That damage is correct on Erol's table
but not the "official" one in AM. According to that all St 50 monster
should do at least 4d damage, even the little one hex lessor demon. None of
the sample monsters justify this heavy a damage at high St.
This year's award for "most significant improvement to the system" goes
to Erol. Congradulations Sir!
